Leaders
Thank you, Leaders and Advisors, for enriching the
lives of girls with your unique talents and skills, coordinating
activities so that girls have fun in Girl Scouting!
We hope to create, on this portion of the website, the
kinds of information, Internet links and resources to best help you in
your busy lives. Training is on another part of the website;
click on the link to get there.
Knowing where to look for help and information, we
hope, will make your experience here online helpful so we have some
websites (at left) that we hope will get you started on finding all
sorts of wonderful information on the Internet! These websites
are those that tend to stay “up” and running, with links to even more
sites. You can also find more on the “Volunteer Welcome Center”
part of the website. Please use the “Quick Link” to the left to
get there from here!
We’ve also included most-requested forms in the Quick
Links. If there’s a form that you need and it’s not here, please let
us know and we’ll put it here!
Frequently asked
Questions to the Training Department
Why do I have to take training to be a Girl Scout
Leader?
We know people are busy, but we also don’t think it is
fair to the volunteer to say, “Thanks for volunteering, here’s twenty
girls.” and then offer no support. We really view training as SUPPORT
of the volunteer’s effort to work with girls. It is also not fair to
the girls to have an adult who is not prepared and does not understand
the program trying to “wing it” at every meeting. We work diligently
to make the classes easily accessible and meaningful to your work with
girls.
Will Diversity Awareness Training still be required
with the new Council? Diversity training is
currently mandated by the GSMD Board of Directors. Going forward, the
new GSSEM Board of Directors will make that decision.
Why can’t I skip Diversity Awareness Training if I
have had it through work?
We get unbelievably positive feedback about our
diversity courses. The reason we do not accept workplace courses is
quite simple – this class emphasizes the Girl Scout commitment to
diversity and was designed for volunteers who work with girls
and other volunteers, a very different setting than the workplace.
Please let us know what you need more of here on YOUR
part of the website! Please e-mail anyone in the Adult Development
Department to ask for information to be placed here:
